Before a contract or payment

How to verify a Chinese supplier before payment

Start by identifying the entity behind the quotation. Then connect that identity to the contract, the payment instructions, and the goods you are buying. Completing the checklist records your checks; it does not certify a supplier.

Before you send payment

Ticks are a record of what you reviewed, not an assessment of the supplier. They clear when you leave the page.

Identify the entity behind the sales name

Request a readable business license, Chinese registered name, and USCC. Search the identifier on the official GSXT portal and compare the record with the document you received.

Ask how the shop, brand, trading company, and factory relate to that entity. Keep their roles distinct in your notes. A supplier can use a trading name, but the name on a storefront alone does not establish who will owe you performance under a contract.

Connect the registry record to the contract

Compare the Chinese entity name and USCC in the draft contract with the matched registration. Ask for an explanation of any difference before relying on the documents.

  • Identify who is signing and what supports their authority to sign for the named entity.
  • Write down the product specification, quantity, acceptance criteria, delivery terms, and responsibility for defects.
  • Keep the signed version and the supplier’s supporting documents together.

A legal representative’s name in the registry helps identify the entity. It does not by itself authenticate a message, signature, or company stamp.

Explain the payment beneficiary

Compare the beneficiary name in the payment instructions with the entity named in the contract. If they differ, obtain a documented explanation of the receiving entity’s role and confirm it through a contact channel you established independently.

Treat a changed bank account as a new check. Confirm the change using a previously verified contact method, rather than only replying to the message that supplied the new account. This site cannot confirm bank-account ownership.

Keep the agreed payment instructions with the contract. A registry match alone does not resolve a beneficiary mismatch.

Check evidence that matters for this order

Request evidence for the claims your order depends on: a sample, production capability, an inspection, or a product certificate. Match any certificate to the product, issuer, holder, and validity details rather than accepting a logo on a sales page.

Use the official source directory when you need registration, published court, enforcement, or intellectual-property information. Record unresolved questions as unresolved. An empty search result is not evidence that no issue exists.

Repeat the relevant checks when the contracting entity, payment instructions, or order changes. The checklist is a working record of your review, not a risk score.

FAQ

Common questions

Does checking every box mean a supplier is verified?

No. The checklist records which actions you have taken. It does not assess the documents for you, authenticate a supplier, or guarantee delivery.

What if the payment beneficiary has a different name?

Ask for a documented explanation and independently confirm the arrangement. A different beneficiary requires its own review; this site cannot establish account ownership or approve the payment.

Will my checklist be saved?

Checklist selections are kept in the current page’s memory. This version does not store a checklist history in an account or localStorage. Keep any record you need separately.
